ZCDC
The Zephaniah Community Development Corporation was started in October 2006 with its primary mission being to economically empower low-income people in the Rundberg/I-35 area of Austin through small business development and mentoring projects, the first being the Texas Pie Kitchen.
ZCDC is a non-profit community development corporation with ten board members ranging from social workers to east Austin community members to a real estate developer.
ZCDC received its federal tax-exempt status in February 2008 and hopes to open the Texas Pie Kitchen in a low-income area in north central Austin/the Rundberg/ I-35 area by 2010. Jen Biddle, founder of ZCDC, had the opportunity to work with Austin's Texas C-Bar and the University of Texas Law School's Community Development Clinic which assisted her in forming the non-profit and to filing the necessary forms to obtain state and federal tax-exempt status.
Future projects of ZCDC include a mentoring and self-sufficiency project, and a film and media project aimed at middle school students. To learn more, contact Jen Biddle at " This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it "
